Severin Tjentland, 93, longtime Kamrar resident, died at 11 p.m. Thursday at the Story City Memorial hospital where he had been a patient the past 10 days.

Funeral services are pending with the Foster Funeral home in charge of arrangements and will be announced later. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.

Severin Tjentland, son of Samson and Anna Swenson Tjentland, was born Oct. 25, 1886, at Aardal, Norway. He was reared and educated there, coming to the United States after his discharge.

He was married June 28, 1934 to Gladys Irene Nelson, and with the exception of a few years at Randall they had always since resided in the Kamrar community.

He was preceded in death by his wife July 13, 1972, and he continued to reside near Kamrar.

He is survived by one grandson, Justin Tjentland, with the Army at Fort Dix, N.J.; two great-grandchildren and many cousins.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, James, in 1966; his parents and several brothers and sisters.

He was a member of the Kamrar United Methodist church and the American Legion post at Story City.
