Funeral services for Herman P. Luppes, 63, prominent Webster City businessman who died suddenly Tuesday morning at his home, 709 South St. will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Church of Christ with the Rev. Marvin E. Brewer officiating and with burial in the Liberty Center cemetery near Blairsburg.

The body will lie in state at the Foster Funeral home until 9 a.m. Friday when it will be taken to the church and will lie in state at the services.

Herman Peter Luppes, son of Harm and Tena Luppes, was born May 30, 1906, at Clarion, Iowa. He was a small boy when he moved with his parents to a farm near Blairsburg, and was reared and educated in the Blairsburg community.

He later moved to Webster City where he became associated with the Phillips Oil Co. At the time of his death he was president of the Luppes Oil Corp. and had been associated with the Phillips Oil Corp. for the past 37 years.

He was honored two years ago by the company on the occasion of his 35th anniversary with the firm. In addition, he was also presented with the Mr. Phil award for outstanding service to his community.

He was a director of the Iowa Oil Jobbers association, president of the Luppes Transport Co. Inc., and a former owner of the Luppes Propane Co.

Mr. Luppes is survived by one sister and two brothers, Bonnie Luppes and Harry Luppes, both of Webster City, and Joe Luppes of Garden Grove, Calif.; one niece and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Luppes was baptized in the Christian faith and was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Moose Lodge, the Masonic Lodge, the Shrine; the Chamber of Commerce and the Webster City Country club.
