LaVern Allen "Swede" Mickelson, 71, died, August 7, 2005 in Pasco, Washington after an automobile accident.

Memorial Services are being held at Mueller Funeral Home in Pasco, Washington, Sunday, August 14, 2005.

He was born February 18, 1934 in Hamilton County, Iowa to Melvin R. and Hazel "Weeks" Mickelson. LaVern attended schools in Minnesota and in Iowa, graduating from City High in 1951. He married Joye Hicks on October 18, 1952.

LaVern is survived by his wife, Joye; two daughters, Robyn Hendrichs and Meagyn Mickelson; three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Travis, and Bailey; and one great-granddaughter; two sisters, LaVonne (Paul) Cascio of Rockford, IL and Janet (Bill) Lumpa of West Branch; three brothers, Robert (Barb) Mickelson, Marvin Mickelson, and Keith (Jeannett) Mickelson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son and daughter- in-law, Richard and Patty Mickelson.

Throughout his life he mined, ranched, piloted his plane, rode his Harley, and currently owned and operated "Swedes Transmission Auto Shop" in Pasco, Washington.
