LaVonne M. Cascio, 83, of Loves Park, Illinois went to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at home. Born Aug. 16, 1930, in Hamilton [county], Iowa, daughter of Melvin and Hazel (Wicks) Mickelson. Married Paul J. Cascio on Dec. 22, 1951, in Chicago. Employed as a nurse by Swedish American Hospital for 20 years. Member of Grace Lutheran Church. She loved spending time with family, reading, traveling and baking. Survivors include husband, Paul; children, Paul (Beverly) Cascio of Washington, Mary Cascio of Georgia, Jan (Steve) Stringer of Rockford, Shirley (Jack) Handley of Washington and Steven (Ava) Cascio of Freeport; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers; one sister; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents and a brother. Service at noon Saturday, May 24, in Grace Lutheran Church, 343 Grand Ave., with visitation from 11 a.m. to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
