Death of Miss Kate Stebbins.
Miss Kate Stebbins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jabe Stebbins, of this city, died at Algona at noon Sunday, after a brief illness. A week or ten days ago she went to Ledyard to visit friends, and not feeling well last Friday started for home and was taken so ill at Algona that she was compelled to stop there at a hotel. The friends here were notified of her illness and her brother went up to Algona Saturday. She grew rapidly worse and passed away Sunday. The physician pronounced her death as a result of a malignant type of typhoid fever. The remains were brought home Monday afternoon and the funeral took place this afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Dr. Crum. -- A father, mother, three brothers and a sister are the immediate members of the family left to mourn her untimely demise (Webster City Freeman, 22 Dec 1897).
