Lehigh Valley Argus Thursday 11 May 1911
Mrs. Sarah Goodrich, who for a number of years had made her home with her son, W.H.Goodrich, east of town, passed away last Thursday, death being due to old age.
Sarah Jane McGuire was born in Missouri, March 4, 1840. In April of 1849 she accompanied her parents to Webster County, Iowa, settling in the neighborhood, which now is known as Missouri Bend. At the age of twelve she was converted and joined the Great Bend Baptist Church but later united with the United Brethern church continuing faithfully until her death.
In 1854 she was united in marriage to John Goodrich, four boys and four girls being born to this union. All of children are still living. Her husband passed away in June 1908. The children are Mrs. Elizabeth Heck of this vicinity; Mrs. Rebecca Holloway, Jessie Goodrich, Richard Goodrich and Thomas Goodrich of Webster City, Florence Milbun of Fairmont, MN; Mary Dayton of Fort Dodge and William H. Goodrich of this vicinity.
Mrs. Goodrich was sister of "Doc" McGuire, who passed away a few months ago, and was one of the early pioneers of this part of Iowa.
During her early life she was compelled to endure all the hardships through which the early pioneers were compelled to pass. Through out her long years of residence here her life has been one of untiring devotion to others. She was a good woman and her influence for good in this community can never be measured.
The funeral services were held Saturday morning from the residence of her son, W.H. Goodrich and was attended by a large number of neighbors and friends. Rev. O.P.Mueller, pastor of the Methodist church, having charge of the services. The interment was made by the side of her husband, in the cemetery at Webster City. The heartfelt sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved relatives in their hour of sadness.

Note: Florence Mulbun mispelled, it should be Wilson. Note: cemetery is Graceland
