ANOTHER OLD SOLDIER CALLED HOME
Jerome Thompson Kepler, Pioneer Resident Hamilton County, Dies at his home here.

79 YEARS OF AGE
Came here from Pennsylvania when New Castle had just been started.
Jerome Thompson Kepler, a pioneer resident of Hamilton County, died last evening at 6:30 o'clock at his home, 644 Maple Avenue, after a lingering illness. Six years ago, Mr. Kepler suffered a stroke of paralysis and had been comparatively helpless since. Death was caused by hardening of the arteries.
Rev. Manson E. Miller will have charge of the funeral services which will be held tomorrow afternoon at the Christian Church. Interment will be made in the Cass Center cemetery.
Mr. Kepler was born October 7, 1841, in Pennsylvania, being 79 years, five months and sixteen days old at the time of his death. When a young lad he removed to this state, coming to this city when the village of New Castle had just been started. In 1866, he married Miss Emily Thompson with whom he resided on a farm near this city until the time of her death twenty-five years ago. After his second marriage to Mrs.J.W. McKinney of this place, he resided in Nebraska and Wisconsin for several years, returning to Webster City last year. Mr. Kepler is an old Civil War Veteran, having served with the 112th Illinois Infantry.
He is survived by his widow and four children: James Kepler, Oscar Kepler, and Mrs.S.J. Barber of this city and Mrs. Smith Denton of Bancroft, Three sisters also survive, two residing in Leo and the other in Henry County, Ill.

Note: Mrs S.J. Barber was Florence Belle Kepler
Jerome Thompson Kepler & Emily Bainy Thompson were married in Annawan Twp., Henry Co., ILL & since he served in the Civil War from Annawan Twp., Henry Co. Ill there, I don't believe he was in Webster County until after 1865
