Webster City Tribune, Webster City, IA 7 June 1895
Sad Death of Mr. A. Beck.
Our community was startled yesterday at 3 o'clock and many hearts are saddened by the sudden death of A. Beck, the senior member of the new tailoring firm of A. Beck & Son. He suffered a stroke of apoplexy last night and lingered until the above hour this afternoon, when he quietly passed away. Mr. Beck came to this city from Geneseo, Ill., with his family about two months ago and was in very feeble health. His wife died some two years ago, and now two sons and three daughters are left alone in the world. The eldest son, E. A. Beck, is a model young man and one of our representative business men, and the family of children will not be allowed to suffer under his tender care. The sympathy of the entire community will go out to the afflicted ones in their sudden bereavement.
The funeral service will be held at the family home at 4:30 o'clock this afternoon, Rev. L. N. Call officiating. Emil and his little sister, Bertha, leave on the 9:09 train with the remains for Geneseo, where they will be intered.
