Luella Vande Zande, 86, of Waupun, Wis., passed on to her Heavenly Home on Thursday evening, Sept. 30, 2010 at the Christian Home and Rehabilitation Center in Waupun.

Luella was born June 14, 1924 in the town of Metomen in Fond du Lac County the daughter of Henry and Alydia Vervelde Daane. On March 20, 1948 she married Merlin "Mike" Vande Zande in Alto. Following their marriage the couple resided and farmed in the town of Alto all their lives. Luella enjoyed working with her husband and sons on the family farm. She enjoyed gardening (especially raspberries), singing in church and attending its Mission Circle at Alto Reformed Church where she was a lifelong baptized member.

Luella is survived by her husband, Merlin "Mike" Vande Zande, of Waupun; four sons. Rev. Arlin (Marie) Vande Zande, of New Holland, SD, David L. (Diane) Vande Zande, of rural Waupun; Steven (Jeannie) Vande Zande, of Webster City; Kurt (Laurie) Vande Zande, of rural Waupun; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, Stuart; five brothers, Harry Daane, Wilbert Daane, Erwin Daane, Lester Daane, and Howard Daane; and two sisters, Mabel Kastein and Ethel Bille.

Funeral services for Luella Vande Zande will be held Monday, Oct. 4, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Alto Reformed Church, in Alto, with Rev. Arlin Vande Zande, Rev. Dr. Gregg Pusateri and Rev. Ted Medema officiating. Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery in Alto. Friends and relatives of Luella Vande Zande may call on the family on Sunday at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 4-7 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
