Gerald L. Seiser, 82, of Webster City, died Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Foster Funeral & Cremation Center with Pastor Ray Artrip officiating. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #191 of Webster City. A visitation will be held on Friday evening at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Gerald Lee Seiser son of Herman and Letha Davis Seiser was born on November 30, 1927 in Redfield, Iowa. He received his education from the Webster City Community Schools. On January 10, 1948 he married Minnie Marie Widick in Webster City. During the Korean War, Gerald honorably served in the United States Army. Following his discharge, the couple continued to reside in Webster City where Gerald owned and operated Seiser Wrecker Service. Minnie died on August 13, 1996.
Survivors include his son, Tom and wife, Margaret Seiser of Springfield, MO; daughter, Linda and husband, Robert Solberg of Williams, IA; grandchildren, Erin (Corey) Hart of Fairgrove, MO; Brent (Bethany) Seiser of Gaysmill, WI; Nathan Solberg of Cedar Falls, IA; great grandchildren, Annabelle Hart and Reese Seiser; niece, Phyllis Macke of Clarion, IA; Nephews, Lyle Seiser of Stratford; Richard and Bob Seiser of Webster City; Roger Seiser of Baxter, IA; Norman Seiser of Des Moines; and Howard Bash, Jr. of Oelwein, IA.
In addition to his wife Minnie, he was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Amanda Solberg; brothers, Carl, Milton, and William Seiser; sister, Lorene Handahl; and half brother, Howard Bash.
Gerald was inducted into the Racing Hall of Fame in both the Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, and the Mineral City Speedway in Fort Dodge, for his years of dedication to stock car racing at both tracks. Gerald and Minnie sponsored the Webster City 4th of July fireworks at their residence for many years, and he continued volunteering as the event moved to the Brewer Creek (Hospital Hill) area. He also enjoyed attending the Northeast Hamilton Girls athletic programs where he was known to all as Grandpa Gerald.
