Tom Clausen, 67, of Webster City, a former Duncombe area farmer, died Friday, September 10, 2010, at the Hamilton Hospital in Webster City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, east of Kamrar, with Rev. John Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Thomas David Clausen, son of Howard and Erma Davis Clausen, was born April 23, 1943, at Brushy, Iowa. He received his education at Duncombe and Webster City, graduating from Lincoln High in 1961. Following high school, he started farming in the Brushy area, also he hauled grain and helped with custom farm work. Following his father's death in 1964, he farmed with his grandfather until he retired in 1980. On September 29, 1984, he married Mary Avenelle Koop at the First Presbyterian Church at Kamrar. The couple farmed in Webster and Hamilton counties. He also was a recreational livestock farmer. Most recently, they moved to Webster City because of his failing health.

Tom is survived by his wife, Mary; sons and daughter-in-law, T.J. and Britney Clausen of Duncombe; Paul Clausen of Ames; Paul's special friend, Lendie Follett; sisters and brother-in-law, Marie and Don Schwering of Fort Dodge; Helen Meehan of Duncombe; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Kathryn Koop of Webster City; Valerie Achtemeier of Pasadena, CA; John and Jodi Koop of Kamrar; uncle, Clarence Messerly of Fort Dodge; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces; great-nephew and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Avenelle Koop and father-in-law, John A. Koop; brother in infancy, Howard Clausen; 2 sisters-in-law, in infancy; aunts, uncles and some cousins.

Tom was a member of the First Presbyterian Church; he enjoyed his boys accomplishments, fishing, snowmobiling in Wisconsin with his Lehigh friends, 4 wheeling in Wisconsin and enjoying the Riverside atmosphere.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the families discretion.
