Lowell Seger was born in Blairsburg, Iowa, and passed away in Portland June 17, 2010, from complications following a fall. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in 1949 and began his teaching career in Iowa. Lowell moved to Oregon in 1955, where he taught at Camas Valley High School for two years and retired after 25 years at Lake Oswego Junior High School. After moving to King City in 1989, he indulged in his love of golf and became the six-time champion of the King City Men's Golf Club. A strong supporter of Loaves & Fishes, he delivered Meals-On-Wheels with his wife of 54 years, Mary Ellen. In addition to his wife, Lowell is survived by his sons, Tom (Gayle Jordan), Jim, and David (Laura Gierok), all of Portland; daughter, Kara Helgeson (Peter) of Wrangell, Alaska; grandchildren, Rebecca, Christian, Tess, Elizabeth, William, and Laura; brother, Rev. David L. Seger (Nancy); sister-in-law, Joanne Shaw; and nieces and nephews. Please join the family in celebrating Lowell's life at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010, in the King City clubhouse, 15245 S.W. 116th Ave, King City, OR 97224.
