Bonnie Koontz, 79, of Webster City, died Thursday, June 11, 2009 at Mary Greeley Medical Center at Ames. Private graveside services will be conducted by Rev. Gerald Caquelin.A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, June 15 at Foster's Fellowship Hall. The public is invited to the gathering.

Bonnie Mae Hemminger, daughter of Herman and Nina Weir Hemminger, was born July 24, 1929 on a farm south of Webster City. She received her education in the Blairsburg Public School, graduating in 1948. On March 26, 1949, she married Vernon Richard (Bud) Koontz in the Little Brown Church at Nashua. The couple farmed in the Blairsburg area for 25 years, then farmed north of Webster City for eight years. Bud died Jan. 27, 1989. She continued to reside in Webster City.

Bonnie is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dwayne and Peggy Koontz of Marion; daughters and son-in-law, Pam Henderson of Webster City; Tonya Koontz, Sondra and Jerry Petersen, all of Cedar Falls; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Bob Hemminger of Missouri. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Bonnie loved sing and listen to music. Several years ago, she had sang with a women's barbershop quartet in Webster City.
