Webster City Freeman Journal, June 9 & June 10, 2009, p.3.

Richard L Edvenson passed away at his Hollister home at the age of 83, on May 18, 2009. Services were held at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home on May 22, followed at the IOOF Cemetary where militay rites were performed.

He was born in Webster City, Ia., and is survived by his wife, Gertrude (Hanson), daughter Linda and Son Clyde and family, and Sister Mr. and Mrs.Clyde (Betty) Orlando & daughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Jaunita (Wiltsey) and brother Allan and wife, Mary (Claude) Edvenson all of Webster City.

He served in the 101st Army Airborne Paratroopers unit in WW II, and received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Medal for bravery. He then served in the 82nd Airborne during the Korean War. Dick had a deep appreciation for his country and fellow veterans.
