Shirley Forrester Burton, 82, Webster City, died May 1, 2009 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Private family services will be held on June 15, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. in Graceland Cemetery with Pastor Richard Laird officiating.

Shirley Aretha Vulgamott, daughter of Samuel and Verna Davis Vulgamott, was born Jan. 31, 1927 at Stanhope. She graduated from Williams High School in 1945. She worked at Forrester and Sons Dairy in Webster City as a secretary. On July 18, 1951, she married Harry Evans Forrester, Jr. at Nashua. The couple resided at Webster City. She worked at Parkhurst Hardware for several years. Mr. Forrester died Feb. 7, 1975. On July 3, 1981, she married Donald Edward Burton Sr. at Nashua. The couple resided at Webster City; She worked at the Farm Journal for 20 years in the survey department. Mr. Burton died 2003.

Those left to honor Shirley's memory include two daughters and a son-in-law Kathy Forrester of Webster City, and Susan and Douglas Edwards of Casper, Wyo.; grandsons Kory (Hillary) Edwards of Gainesville, VA, Kurt (Heather) Edwards of Casper, Wyo., and five great-grandchildren, Brandon, Alliana Edwards, and Autumn Sterling; Taylor and Libby Edwards; sisters, Nola Raner, and Norma (Walt) Bailey, all of Webster City; brothers Ray (Eleanor) Vulgamott of Webster City, Neal Vulgamott of Missouri; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Gene Ronald Vulgamott, and Harold Vern Vulgamott.
