Betty L Bashford, 78, a former Webster City resident, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2007 at Tablerock Healthcare in Kimberling, Mo. A graveside service will be held Friday, Aug. 31, at 11 a.m. in Graceland Cemetery in Webster City with Rev. Peter Peterson officiating.

Betty L. Bashford, daughter of Irvin and Mary Ellen McDermott was born Nov. 4, 1928 in Kamrar. She attended Kamrar schools and graduated from Kamrar High School. During Betty’s high school years, she played basketball and after graduation she played semi-pro ball at the American Institute of Business in Des Moines.

She married Frank (Bash) Bashford in Webster City on Sept. 4, 1948. The couple continued to live in Webster City, and in 1966, opened Bash’s Drive-In and operated it until 1972. The couple moved to Whittier, Calif. in 1972 and later to Redlands, Calif. Betty moved to Kimberling, Mo., in 2000 where she lived for the past seven years. She was a member of the Kimberling City United Methodist Church.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Francis; two brothers, Ardell Nissen and Joe Carson; and sister Arlene Mamminga.

Survivors are her sons and daughters-in-law, Mike Bashford and Victoria Trump of Kimberling City, Mo.; Dr. Tim and Penny Bashford, Wilmette, Ill.; three brothers, Ross Nissen and wife Dorothy of Webster City; Irv Nissen of Pasadena, Calif.; and Emery Nissen and wife Carol of Lake Villa, Ill.; granddaughters Lisa, Tamra, Morgan and Carson, and grandson Bryce.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Methodist Church or a memorial of their choice.

Following the burial service, the family will host a luncheon at the AmericInn.
