Cleo Brock, age 93, of Jewell, Iowa died Friday, July 27, 2007 at Bethany Manor in Story City. Memorial services are 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2007 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. Cleo deeded her body to the University of Iowa; her cremated remains will be buried in Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. Becker Funeral and Cremation Service of Jewell is entrusted with arrangements.

Cleo Edna Brock was born April 8, 1914 to Marius and Andrea (Kolling) Brock on a farm west of Jewell. Cleo moved with her parents from the farm to Jewell in 1921. Cleo graduated from Jewell High School in 1932. She was a clerk for the Deedrich Hat and Dress Shop from 1935 to 1946. In March of 1946 Cleo began working for Iowa Light and Power Company as a bookkeeper. She worked there until she retired in 1983, the last 10 years as manager. When Cleo retired she had worked on Main Street for 49 years. She enjoyed her home and visits on the back porch with friends and neighbors. Cleo was a faithful friend and made many trips to the nursing homes for visits. She was an active member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell where she taught Sunday School and served as a Deaconess.

Cleo is survived by five nieces, Dorothy, Lois, Helen, Phyllis, and Anna Marie; and many great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Lillie, Ralph, Anna, and a brother in infancy.
