Alfred A. Raska, 87, Webster City, died Friday, June 15, 2007 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Webster City with Rev. Travis Schmidt officiating. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Buckeye Cemetery, Buckeye.

Alfred Albert Raska, son of Eric William “Ira” Raska and Minnie Ratzke, was born Jan. 28, 1920 in Hardin County on a farm west of Alden. On Feb. 26, 1949, he married Gretchen Esther Goodyear at Buckeye. Mrs. Raska preceded him in death on Oct. 16, 1985. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a t-Sgt. The couple moved to Webster City in 1963 from Buckeye. Alfred worked for the city of Webster City for over 18 years retiring in the early 1980s.

Mr. Raska is survived by his daughter Joyce Dutcher of Woolstock; grandchildren, Melissa, Des Moines, Matt and Misty Dutcher, Nevada; great-grandchildren, Abbie, Sydney and Aiden; brothers and sisters-in-law, Verner and Mabelle Raska, Webster City; Robert and Signe Raska of Waterloo; Harley Raska, Hephzibath, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother in infancy, one sister, and son-in-law, Mark Dutcher.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church for many years.
