Kenneth E. Rahto, age 49, of rural Jewell, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. Friends may call one hour prior to service time at the church. Kenny was an organ and tissue donor at the request of his family. Arrangements entrusted with Becker Funeral and Cremation Service of Jewell.

Kenneth Eugene Rahto was born November 10, 1957 in Worthington, Minnesota to Richard Kenneth and Mary Anna (Oberender) Rahto. Kenny came to Jewell with his family from California in 1974, graduating from South Hamilton High School in 1976. He worked as a lumberjack in Minnesota from 1980 to 1982. Kenny graduated at the top of his class at heavy equipment operator’s school in Alabama. On August 13, 1983, Kenny married Liz Ann Thoreson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. He farmed in the Jewell and Ellsworth area. Kenny was an outdoorsman. He loved to camp, hunt, and fish. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed tinkering in his shop. Kenny was a member of the National Rifle Association, Pheasants Forever, and the North American Hunting Club.

Kenny is survived by his son, John Isaac Rahto of Ellsworth; his parents, Richard and Mary Rahto of Ames; a sister, Susie Marie (Scott) Hertzke of Bolivar, Missouri; his former wife, Liz Ann Rahto of Ellsworth; a large extended family and many friends.
