Helen Scott Erickson, 91, of Humboldt, died Friday, October 24, 2008, at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church at Humboldt, with Rev. Jan Burnett officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be in the Indian Mound Cemetery, south of Humboldt. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center at Webster City.

Helen Mae Scott, daughter of Harry and Clara Powell Scott, was born July 29, 1917 at Slayton, Minnesota. At the age of 5, following the death of her father, she moved, with her family, to the Homer area of Hamilton County. She attended Harmony Center rural school, then high school at Webster City. She worked for numerous families in the Homer, Webster City, Stratford and Stanhope areas. On September 1, 1939, she married Myron Virgil Erickson at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. The couple resided at Manson. During W.W. II, they lived in Los Angeles where she was employed at an aircraft company. In the early 40's, they started farming near Pocahontas, then in 1945, they moved to a farm north of Duncombe. In the spring of 1960, they moved to a farm south of Humboldt. The couple were divorced in 1976. She then resided at Fort Dodge, Humboldt and Phoenix, AZ returning to Humboldt in 1996.

Helen is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Mary Ann Erickson of Webster City; Gary and Carol Erickson of Dakota City; Jim and Sherry Bulten Erickson, Dan Erickson and Carlene Blomker of Humboldt; daughter, Judy Van Boening of Phoenix, AZ; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Loren Echelberger; brother, Leonard Scott; sisters, Vera Anthony; Evelyn Nay and Viva Gabrielson.
