Irving Deuel, 90, Lake City, died Friday, June 13, 2003 at his home. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Woodlawn Christian Church, Lake City with Rev. Carla Hillyer officiating. Burial will be in the Lake City Cemetery. Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. Monday with family present from 6-8 p.m. at Lampe Funeral Home, Lake City.
Irving was born on July 24, 1912 at his home in Sheridan Township, Carroll County, Iowa to parents Zachary Taylor Deuel and Evelyn Grace (Challand) Deuel. He graduated from East Liberty Country School, Sheridan Township, Carroll County. He married Evelyn E. Fuller, June 12, 1937 at the home of her parents. Irving farmed and operated his own feed mill and milked cows, retiring in 1979. His hobbies included gardening, fishing and hunting. Memberships included the Woodlawn Christian Church and Senior Citizens.
Survivors are his wife, Evelyn, Lake City, three daughters, Janice Altemeier, Urbandale, Shirley Miller, Duncombe, and Linda Ames, Henderson, Nev.; two sons, James Deuel, Lake City and Donald Deuel, Vincent; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 1 brother, William Deuel, Carroll; two sisters, Ada Hurley of Lake City, and Alice Spencer, Rockwell City. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Wesley and Charles Deuel, a sister, Mary Ann (Deuel) Gerdes, one son, Kenneth Deuel, a sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
