Zelpha "Zell" E. Burgin, 83, of Webster City, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2008 at Crestview Senior Living. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Christ, with Pastor Ray Artrip officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5-8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the church.

Zelpha Elaine Flowers, daughter of Gilbert and Edith Carpenter Flowers, was born June 2, 1924 at Duncombe. She received her education in a rural school south of Duncombe and graduated from Lincoln High at Webster City in 1941. On July 12, 1942, she married LeRoy William Burgin at Kahoka, Missouri. The couple farmed south of Webster City. In 1984, they moved to Webster City. She had worked at Halverson’s Shoe Store, Riverview Day Care and McDonald’s. Mr. Burgin died March 7, 2003. She had resided at Crestview Senior Living since February of 2006.

Mrs. Burgin is survived by son and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Charlene Burgin of Rock Hill, SC; Gary and Rolanda Burgin, Rick and Denise Burgin, all of Webster City; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Doug Burtnett of Webster City; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, sister, Ruth Irving , residing in Minnesota; brother-in-law, Ray Olthoff of Des Moines; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Troy Burgin; sisters, Calva Dilley and Mary Olthoff; brother, Harold Flowers and a sister in infancy.

She was a member of the Church of Christ and was involved in many church committees. She also was a longtime member of the Jane Young Women’s Club. LeRoy and Zell enjoyed camping at the State Fair for over 30 years.

She was especially delighted in her flower garden and all of the wonderful children in her life.
