Minnie Quam, 94, Story City, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at the Israel Family Hospice Center in Ames. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City with Rev. Stephen Anenson and Rev. John Engelstad officiating. Burial will be in Story City Cemetery. Visitation is Monday after 3 p.m. with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home in Story City.
Minnie Olson, daughter of Goodman and Mary Olson, was born Sept. 29, 1908 in Hamilton County. She married Truman Quam on Dec. 28, 1930. She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband in the Stanhope and Story City area until 1986 when she moved to Story City.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City and Praise Circle. Her life included activities in her church, both in Story City and in the Stanhope area. She accompanied her husband when he sang in church or various musical functions. She bowled with a team and was also active in various community activities.
Survivors are her sons, Gordon Quam and his wife Laura of Boone, and Nolan Quam of Des Moines; one granddaughter, Debra Martino and her husband Joe of Sea Cliff, NY; one grandson, Dennis Quam and his wife Christine of rural Boone; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986; an infant sister and her brother, Melferd Olson.
Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
