Gayle Elm, 84, Webster City, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003 at Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City with Rev. John Grebner officiating. Burial will be in the Washington Lutheran Cemetery, south of Duncombe. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Wilma Gayle Yeager, daughter of Noble and Helen Lindsey Yeager, was born Feb. 22, 1919 at Flora, Ill. She attended Fremont #6 rural school (Mud Hollow) and graduated from Lincoln High at Webster City in 1937. On Nov. 26, 1939, she married Luverne Dean Elm at the Washington Lutheran Church at Duncombe. The couple farmed north of Webster City until 1975 then moved to a farm south of Williams. In 1991, they moved to Webster City. She had worked at the First State Bank in Webster City for 15 years, and Northeast Hamilton Schools for 5 years.
Mrs. Elm is survived by her husband, Luverne; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Ginny Elm of Minneapolis, Minn., Lynn and Elaine Elm of Williams, daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Gerald Steuerwald of Duncombe; grandchildren Dwight Elm, Andrea Stephenson, Kendra Hauch, David and Steven Alexander, Jeffrey Elm, Dawn Schwartz, Jason Steuerwald, Heather Larson; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Noble (Bus) Yeager, Chula Vista, Calif.; Robert Yeager of Webster City; Merle Yeager, Texarkana, Texas; Bruce Yeager of Chaska, Minn., sisters, Joan Jacobson, Jewell, Bonnie Ford of White Bear Lake, Minn., Kay Fisher of Albuquerque, NM.; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Kent Elm; great-grandson Alex Steuerwald; sister Jane Widdowson; brothers Harlan, Carroll and Dennis Yeager.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Harmony Club at Williams, Be Neighborly Club, and the Hamilton County Saddle Club.
Memorials may be given to Washington Lutheran Cemetery.
