Normen K. Hetland, 78, of rural Story City died May 4, 2008 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Randall.

Normen was born October 24, 1929, near Radcliffe to Nils and Karina (Bjelland) Hetland. He married Anna (Ann) Hansen of Jewell at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell on February 27, 1959. To his union their only child Bruce Allen was born on May 4, 1962. Normen was lived all of his life in the Story City and Radcliffe areas. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Radcliffe and attended school at Lincoln #6 country school. He enjoyed the land, gardening, toy collecting and especially loved his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Ann, of rural Story City; a son Bruce Allen and Kim (Childers) Hetland of rural Story City, two grandchildren, Jamie Sue and Justin Allen; and three sisters, Carrie Brightwell, of Clinton, Bertha Dubberke of Radcliffe and Dorothy Tribby of Ellsworth.

Normen was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Peter and Tom.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall. Memorials may be made to his church or Riverside Bible Camp Campership fund.
