South Hamilton Record-News, Jewell, Iowa May 7, 2008

William (Bill) C. Dykstra, 74, went to be with the Lord on May 3, 2008. He was born March 9, 1934 to Albert and Wanda Dystra in Albia, Iowa. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Nowlin Funeral Home in DeLeon, TX.

He graduated from Jewell High School in Jewell, Iowa. On June 20, 1953 Bill married Patricia L. Rosburg. He professed his faith in the Lutheran Church. They had two sons William N. and Kent P.

Bill served in the Army, achieving the rank of SP5. He was stationed at Fort Louis, Washington and at the Atomic testing grounds at Camp Desert Rock. Nevada.

In 1964 Bill moved his family to Odessa, TX, where he resided for 25 years. He worked construction, before going to work for CSI. He retired from CSI after 16 years as Production Plant Manager. While in Odessa he was an active member of Junior Livestock association. He also helped build countless pieces of equipment for the 4-H and FFA clubs.

After his retirement Bill and Pat moved to DeLeon, where they enjoyed raising cattle, farming and entertaining the grandkids. After his loving wife passed in 1994, he stayed busy helping others and by passing on his love for music.

Bill never met a stranger and would help anyone in need. He lived his life with incredible honesty and hard work, and he expected everyone to do the same. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Wanda Dykstra, wife Patricia and brother Kyle.

He is survived by his son William and wife Lori, grandson Kevin of Eldorado, and grandson Alan and wife Sheena of San Angelo; and son Kent and wife Paula, grandchildren Jonathan, Cody and Alyssa of Odessa; two sisters, Margaret and husband Dick Hrubesky, and Beulah and husband Lee Williams of Wisconsin; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and many close friends.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of San Angelo or American Cancer Society.
