Esther Hassebrock

Esther Hassebrock, 85, Jewell, died Wednesday, Dec. 14 at Story City Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 17, 10:30 a.m. at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell, with Rev. James Cherry officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Jewell.

Esther Van Langen, daughter of Ben and Minnie Heyer Van Langen, was born May 7, 1903, in Kamrar. She taught in country schools, and married George M. Hassebrock on March 12, 1925 at the home of her parents in Kamrar. The couple farmed southwest of Jewell, and moved to town in 1968. Mrs. Hassbrock worked at the Farm Bureau.

She is survived by her daughter, Pauline Lund, Jewell; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lena Hassebrock, Britt.

She was preceded in death by her husband George, in 1978; one sister; and one brother.

Mrs. Hassebrock was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church, where she was president of the Bethesda Lutheran Church Women; a member of the Fort Nightly Study Club and the Jewell Senior Citizens.
