Mrs. Alvina Johnson

Jewell -- Mrs. Alvina Johnson, 75, a longtime Stanhope resident, died this morning at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames where she had been a patient the past nine days.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stanhope with the Rev. Dwight McElree officiating and with burial in Evergreen cemetery at Jewell. Visitation will be at the Becker Funeral Home in Jewell tomorrow until the time of service.

Alvina Rasmussen, daughter of Anton and Bratitta Rasmussen, was born Feb. 1, 1906 at Randall.

She attended the Jewell schools and Ellsworth College and later was graduated from Drake University. For 35 years she had taught schools in the South Hamilton area, retiring in 1970.

On June 13, 1939, she was married to Yorke Johnson at Webster City, and the couple resided in Stanhope since 1945 and Mr. Johnson was for many years a rural mail carrier.

She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and a member of the ALCW of the church. She was also a member of the National Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Joan Schnute of North Liberty; two grandchildren; two sisters, Carrie Ostrem of Fort Dodge and Florence Morris of San Leandro, Calif., and two brothers, Roy Rasmussen of Stockton, Calif., and Harry Rasmussen of Webster City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Sena Harman; and two brothers, Howard and Emil Rasmussen.
