Forence Vespested

Florence (Mrs. Chris) Vespested, 80, of Webster City, a former Jewell area resident, died early Saturday morning, June 25 at the Hamilton County Public Hospital.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 28 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark J. Buchhop officiating. Burial will be in evergreen Cemetery at Jewell. Friends may call at Foster Funeral Home until 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, when the casket will be taken to the church.

Florence Mildred Henderson, daughter of William and Maggie Larson Henderson, ws born Dec. 29, 1907 at Ellsworth, where she also received her education.

She attended St. Olaf College and graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. For several years she taught in the Spring Valley rural school near Ellsworth.

On Aug 11, 1931, she married Chris L. Vespested at Ellsworth. The couple farmed in the Jewell and ellsworth areas until they retired in 1976 and moved to Jewell. they had resided in Webster City since February of this year.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Faye (Mrs. Rodney) Arends of Stanhope and Miriam (Mrs. Robert) Peter of Jewell; one son, Carroll Vespested of Belle Fouche, S.D.; one granddaughter, Diane Klingbeil; one great-grandson, Tyler Klingbeil; two sisters, Ruth Clem of Jewell and Alyce Wicklein of Rochester, Minn.; and two brothers, Willard Henderson of Ellsworth and Earl Henderson of Fort Dodge.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, a past member of the Fortnightly Study Group and was active in church work for many years.
