Otto Luhmann

Otto F. Luhmann, 92, Friendship Haven, died Nov. 2, 1997, at Tompkins Health Center.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel on the Hill, Friendship Haven, with the Rev. Ron Klitterman officiating. There will be no visitation. The body was cremated. Inurnment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Jewell. Gunderson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include wife Dorothy, Fort Dodge; sons Don, Otho, and Larry, Fort Dodge; daughter Mary Kaufman, Otho; stepson Ed Mullin, Jefferson; brother Archie, Dayton, 20 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Lundberg Luhmann, son Bruce, parents, and brothers Leo and Earl.

Otto Luhmann ws born June 11, 1905, on a farm south of Burnside. He was educated in Rufer country school and Burnside High School. He attended an automotive repair school in Kansas City. In 1946, he moved to a farm near Blairsburg. In 1965, the couple moved to a farm near Jewell, and later moved into Jewell. He was employed doing custom mowing and field spraying. After his first wife died, he married Dr. Dorothy Mullin of Ellsworth, in 1978. The couple lived in Knoxville, Tenn., and Yuma, Ariz., and later the Dayton Retirement Center, and most recently Friendship Haven. He had lived in Tompkins Health Center since September 1996. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lode, a longtime member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Lehigh and Blairsburg and a former member of the Burnside School Board.
