Harry Harman

Harry Harman, 80, lifelong Jewell resident, died Sunday, Feb. 4, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb 6, at 1:30 p.m. at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. Rev. Lee Laaveg officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Jewell. Visitation was Monday afternoon and evening at the Becker Funeral Home in Jewell, and at 10:00 a.m. until service time Tuesday.

Harry Harman, son of Clyde and Ella Cochran Harman, was born Jan. 10, 1910, in Jewell, where he graduated from high school. He married Myrtle Swenson on July 26, 1920 in Newton. He was a World War II veteran, and worked as a rural mail carrier until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle, Jewell; a daughter, Mrs. Sterling Stark, Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Audrey Hill; one brother and six sisters.

Mr. Harman was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church of Jewell, where he was head usher for many years; and was a past commander and service officer of the American Legion Post of Jewell.
