Minnie Templer

Minnie Dora Templer, age 74, a lifelong Jewell area resident, died Wednesday, May 10, 1995 at the Story City Memorial Hospital. Memorial services were held Saturday, May 13, at 3:00 p.m. at the Federated United Church of Christ in Jewell with Rev. H. Deau Stille officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell. Becker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Minnie Dora Koop was born near Jewell on January 22, 1921 to John and Katherine (Barkema) Koop. She was a 1939 graduate of Jewell High School. On June 27, 1939 she married James J. Templer in Ames. They farmed north of Jewell for many years. Besides farming and being a homemaker, Minnie worked outside the home at several jobs retiring in 1978 after working for Bourns in Ames for more than 10 years. She ws a member of the Federated United Church of Christ in Jewell.

Minnie is survived by her husband, James, of Jewell; two sons, Wayne Templer, of Camden, Tennessee, and Jerry Templer of Sherborn, Massachusetts; a daughter, Linda Roney of Randall, Iowa; five grandchildren, James, Kari Kelly, Michelle, and Michael; five great grandchildren, Kalob, Abigail, Jessica, Krystol, and David; three sisters, Jennie Greenley and Katie Anderson, both of Webster City, Iowa, and Bertha Sanderson of Ankeny, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Hans and William; two sisters, Harmke Mortenson and Rickie Klaver, two infant sisters, Laura and Dora; and two stillborn infants.
