Robert Erickson

Robert Erickson, age 66, Collins St., Jewell, died Sunday, June 1, in Jewell. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 5, 10:30 a.m. at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery. Becker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Robert Chalmers Erickson, was born in Radcliffe on July 23, 1924, to Orian and Olillian (Lunning) Erickson. He was baptized at the Zion Lutheran Church near Radcliffe. Bob moved to Jewell as a child and has resided here since that time. He was confirmed at the Bethesda Lutheran Church and was a 1942 graduate of Jewell High School.

Bob married Harriet Carrie Halvorson in Radcliffe at the Salem Lutheran Church on June 3, 1949. He was a businessman on Main Street for 40 years owning and operating a Gambles Store and managing the Jewell Distributing Farm Store before retiring.

Bob was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church where he had served as a Deacon, a Trustee, a Sunday School Teacher, a Choir member, A Luther League Advisor, and an Usher. Bob was twice a City Council Member, had belonged to the Jewell Chamber of Commerce and the Jewell Golf and Country Club.

He is survived by his wife, Harriet; a daughter, Linda sue Gevock of Orange Park, Florida; a son, Ted Lee Erickson of Boone; two grandchildren, Hans and Ashley; three brothers, Elston of Jewell; Arling of Radcliffe; and Harold of Windsor, Missouri; a sister Opal Hocker of Ames. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother Orian, Jr., and a daughter Cathy Lynn in 1959.
