Eugene O. Westre

JEWELL - Funeral services for Eugene O. Westre, 50, will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell with the Rev. Norbert Jolivette, officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Becker Funeral Home in Jewell until shortly before the time for services at the church.

Mr. Westre, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 21, at the University hospsitals, in Iowa City where had been taken by helicopter on Tuesday. He had suffered an anerism and had been taken to Mary Greeley hospital at Ames prior to his transfer to Iowa City.

He was born June 2, 1930 near Jewell, son of Omer and Bertha Iverson Westre. He attended the rural schools near Jewell and was graduated from Jewell High School.

On June 14, 1964 he married Bethel Voss, and the couple had farmed in the Jewell area since that time.

He had served on the Jewell volunteer fire department for 24 years, and drove a school bus for the South Hamilton school for many years.

He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Gina, Beth, Kristi and Julie, all at home; by his parents; and a sister, Mrs. LaVonne Grove of Ellsworth.

He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church.
