Lawrence Durby

Lawrence M. Durby, 81, rural Stanhope, died Saturday, March 23, at his home, following a heart attack. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 26, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Jewell. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Jewell.

Lawrence M. Durby, son of Peder and Maren (Borwick) Durby, was born Feb. 2, 1910, in Nevada. He married Menora Johnson on Feb. 2, 1934. The couple had always resided in Stanhope. Mr. Durby was a retired farmer.

He is survived by his wife Menora, rural Stanhope; two daughters, Janet Enderson, rural Stanhope; Ella Mae Diamond, San Diego, Calif.; three sisters Berniece Calvedt, Story City; Ruth Duea, Roland; and Palma Beaty, Marshalltown; a brother, Ben Durby, Roland; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and four sisters.

Mr. Durby was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Jewell.
