Orville Owenson

Funeral services were held Monday, June 15, for Orville Owenson, age 85, at the Elim Lutheran Church at Randall. He passed away Friday, June 12, at the Story City Memorial Hospital. Pastor Larry Tantow officiated at the services and the Story City American Legion had charge of the military rites at Mr. Olive Cemetery at Randall.

Mr. Owenson was born Aug. 17, 1895 near Randall to Peter and Dora Peterson Owenson. Orville served in the U.S. Army during WWI and was in active duty in France until Armistice 1918. He was a member of the American Legion Story City Post. On Nov. 12, 1919 he was united in marriage to Myrtle Johnson. They farmed in the Randall community.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle, of Story City; five daughters, Dorothey Eller of Omaha, Nebraska, Mildred Boe and Gladys Holm of Jewell, Charlotte Brown of Ames and Dolores Thompson of Ellsworth; five sons, Curtis of Story City, Peter of Fort Dodge, Carroll of Dayton, Orville, Jr. of Camdenton, Mo., and David of Cedar Rapids; one brother, Nomer of Randall; one sister, Littlian, Aneroid, Sask., Canada; 23 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 infant sisters, and one brother, Clifton.

Casket bearers were Chris, Dennis, Douglas Owenson, Steven Eller, Gregory Thompson and William Holm.
