Ingolf "Ink" Nelson

Ingolf "Ink" Nelson, age 92, of Story City, died Wednesday, March 18, 1998 at the Hamilton County Public Hospital in Webster City. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 1998, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City With Rev. Thomas Hunt officiating. Burial followed at Homewood Cemetery in Ellsworth.

Ingolf Nelson was born March 21, 1905 in Ellsworth to Ludvig and Caroline (Dubbing) Nelson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. He grew up between Ellsworth and Randall. Ingolf was married to Beatrice Anderson. On April 23, 1939 Ingolf married Laura Evelyn Hill. He farmed and worked for the Thoreson Brothers Farm prior to becoming a custodian for the Memorial Union at Iowa State University in Ames. After retiring they moved to Story City in 1972. His wife, Laura preceded him in death in 1982. Ingolf was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City.

Ingolf is survived by five sons -- Bervin M. Nelson of Oakdale, Connecticut, Luther P. Nelson of Des Moines, David Nelson of Redding, California, Larry Nelson of Spirit Lake, and Richard A. Nelson of Devils Tower, Wyoming; two daughters -- Lucy Nelson of Webster City and Doris Peterson of Jewell; a stepson -- Kenneth D. Ford of Alden, Iowa; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a brother Curtis Nelson of Long Beach, California.

He was preceded in death by his wife Laura, a son, Lyle, and three brothers -- Joseph, Naphtali, and Leonard.

Becker Funeral Home of Jewell was in charge of arrangements.
