(Unknown newspaper)

Fanny Francis Everett was born in Hamshear County, West Virginia December 10, 1820. She was married to John Merritt, December 26, 1850 and moved to Hamilton County in the year 1866, where her home has since been until the time of her death, Sunday morning, February 11, 1906.

Mrs. Merritt died at the ripe old age of eighty-five years, two months and one day, death coming as a natural result of old age, after an illness of six weeks. No devastating disease took her away from her loved ones, but rather death came easily and naturally as sleep, to end a long and useful life. She had finished her work and was glad to go.

The deceased was the mother of five children, three sons and two daughters, of whom all but one survive her. Albert, William and Nicholas and Mary Ellen Knox all are residents now of Hamilton County. Mary Ann died at the early age of seven years.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Wood from the Lincoln Church and her body was laid to rest in the Ellsworth Cemetery Wednesday of last week. A pecular circumstance in regard to Mrs. Merritt's death is that she died at exactly the same age to the day as did her husband. Mr. Merritt was six years older than his wife and Mrs. Merritt's death occurred six years after her husband passed away.
