Alfred J. Stout

Alfred J. Stout, age 95, of Jewell, died Sunday, March 26, 1995 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames of heart failure. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 29, 1995 at 1:30 p.m. at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. Rev. Tim Nappe officiated at the services with internment following at Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell.

Alfred J. Stout was born April 17, 1899 in southern Hamilton County near Rosendale to Swen and Inger (Omvig) Stout. He attended rural schools. Alfred farmed in the Kamrar and Jewell areas and had worked for the Erickson Mink Ranch for many years. On March 21, 1949 he married Elaine Christianson in Jewell. They moved to Jewell in 1969 when Alfred retired from farming. He had been a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church for nearly 90 years. Alfred was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, trapping and hunting.

Alfred is survived by his wife Elaine of Jewell; a brother Clarence of Gridley, California; four sisters -- Ida DeLozier of Story City, Iowa, Viola Read of Carpenter, Iowa, Gladys Naber of Webster City, Iowa, and Mildred Johnson of Stratford, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers -- Arthur and Emil, and two sisters -- Gertrude Burton and Myrtle Denekas.
