Mildred Esta Lundberg Luhmann

Mildred Esta Lundberg Luhmann, daughter of Emma Peterson Lundberg and Chas. Lundberg, was born at Dayton on Jan. 15, 1907 and passed away at Siesta Travel Park, Yuma, Arizona, Thursday morning, Feb. 16th. In 1927 she was married to Otto Luhmann at the Little Brown Church near Nashua. The family farmed in the Blairsburg and Jewell area.

Mildred attended the Dayton Schools and graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught first grade in the Kamrar and Williams schools for fifteen years, retiring in 1964.

She was a member of the Federated United Church of Christ, the ladies aid of the church, Senior Citizens and Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Loyd (Mary) Kaufman of Otho, Iowa, three sons, Don Luhman of Otho, Larry of Fort Dodge and Bruce of Elkin, N.C. Also 20 grandchildren and one great grandson. Also two sisters, Mrs. Frances Sandholm of Dayton and Mrs. Knute (Leone) Rasmussen of Beaver Creek, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Byron Irvin Lundberg.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb 19 at the Federated United Church of Christ in Jewell and burial was made at Evergreen Cemetery. Rev. Tom Rehling officiating. Mrs. S.C. Thompson was the organist and Mrs. Alan Spohnheimer sang, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset". Pallbearers were grandsons, Stephen Luhmann, Monte Kaufman, Kirk Kaufman, Terry Luhmann, Dennis Luhmann and Dale Luhmann. Becker Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
