Helen Sowers

Helen Sowers, 89, formerly of Story City, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 1993 at the Evangelical Free Church Nursing Home in Boone. Funeral srvices were held Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. at Grace United Methodist church in Story City with Rev. Ray Hampton officiating. Burial was in Mamrelund Cemetery near Randall.

Soderstrom-Larson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Helen Sowers was born on September 17, 1903 in Randall, Iowa to Anna (Eide) and Elling Rognehaugh. She married Pearly A. Sowers on December 16, 1925 near Jewell. She and her husband farmed south of Jewell till moving to Story City in 1977. Her husband passed away on June 9, 1975. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Maxine Buckels of Boone; one son, Robert Sowers of Dexter, Minnesota; eight grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters and two brothers.
