Mary Tempel

Mary was born on a farm north of Jewell on April 21, 1924 to John Simon and Kathryn Ellen (Brinnick) McDonald. She attended Jewell High School. Mary was married to Virgil Tempel at Bethany, Missouri on June 15, 1942. She worked as a cook at a restaurant in Jewell and for the past 13 years gave loving care to children in her home. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church and a lifelong Jewell area resident.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and three sisters.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband Virgil; three daughters: Kathy Stebbins of Raytown, Missouri, Theresa Sorenson and Jan Cottington both of Jewell; two brothers: James McDonald of Ames and William McDonald of Long Beach, California; two sisters: May McKenna and Pearl Politis both of Ames; six grandchildren: Kent Hitchcock, Dana and Jennifer Sorenson, Brent, Stacy and Kelly Cottington.

Mary died May 24, 1993 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames at the age of 69. Blessed be her memory.

The Tempel family expresses thanks for your support by your presence, your prayers, and your many acts of kindness in this time of loss. You are invited downstairs for refreshments and fellowship following the funeral service. Burial service at Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell.
