Ina McDonald

Ina was born on November 25, 1906 at Ellsworth, Iowa to Jens and Jennie Christensen. She grew up in the Ellsworth area, graduated from Iowa Teachers College. She was married to Lyle Richard McDonald on December 3, 1926 in Webster City and they lived on a farm northwest of Jewell. To this union were born six daughters: one who died in infancy, Lolita, Jean, Marianne, Charlotte and LaRita. They moved to Jewell in 1932 and Ina worked at the telephone office in Ellsworth, Dr. Vernon's office in Jewell, and as a practical nurse at East Lane Nursing Home in Jewell. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Rebecca Lodge, Odd Fellows Lodge, Homewood Cemetery Society.

Her husband died on December 25, 1973 and she moved to Colonial Manor in Zearing in October of 1988. She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters, six brothers and four sisters.

She leaves to mourn her passing, three daughters: Marianne Gandrup of Story City; Charlotte Baker of Garden Grove, Ca.; and LaRita Sickenger of Albert Lea, Minn.

Grandchildren: Angela Hocum, Gayla Thompson, Paula Dobbertin, Bradley Sickenger, MaChar Kingstrom, Debra Baker, Dennis Baker.

Great grandchildren: Damond Nelson, Marnie DeChane, Natasha Kingstrom, Alexander Kinstrom, Eric Sickenger, Hollie Baker, Sarah Baker, Jenscie Thompson, Bryttan Thompson.

She died April 24, 1993 at Zearing at the age of 86. Blessed be her memory.
