Minnie Evelyn bernsmeier Peterson, born April 3, 1897, died October 16 at Stratford Care Center at the age of 91 years, 6 months and 23 days.

Minnie was born in Biggsville, Illinois to William and Catherine Davis Bernsmeier. On October 31, 1917, she was united in marriage to Peter M. Peterson. They farmed near Jewell. She resided on the same farm until March of 1988 when she entered the Stratford Care Center. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her son, Dean, of Jewell, two daughters-in-law, Orpha and Elsie Peterson; six grandchildren: Sandra Peterson of Shadeview, Mn., Mrs. Wayne (Karen) Culpepper, Jewell; Mrs. Jim (Mary Jo) Ytzen, Des Moines; Everett Peterson, Lafayette, Indiana; Mrs. Boyd (Evelyn) Homstrom, Kirkland, Illinois; and Mrs. Greg (Glenda) Richardson of Forest City, Ia.; five great grandchildren: Jodi and Julie Culpepper, Jewell; Amanda & Abigail Ytzen, Des Moines; John Richardson of Forest City and two step great grandchildren Alan and Scott Holmstrom of Kirkland, Illinois. She is also survived by two brothers: Henry Bernsmeier, Nampa, Idaho, Bill Bernsmeier, Williams, and two sisters: Lillian Evans, Alden, Maude Johnson, Bancroft, besides several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1969 and a son, Glenn in 1985 as well as an infant grand-daughter; two brothers, Howard and Russell Bernsmeier and three sisters, Pearl and Blanche Bernsmeier and Marie Evans.

Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, with the rev. James Cherry officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Jewell. Pallbearers: Kendall Hassebrock, Lloyd Buckels, Jr., Lynn Beyer, Richard D. Mortenson, Vernon Jacobson, Gail Johnson.

The family invites you to share in coffee and fellowship in the Fellowship Hall following service at the cemetery.
