I found this Obit for F. R. Gable with my family Obits. I know he did not live a long time in Jewell, but still may be stories about his Ice Cream and Candy Store. Maybe someone knows where his store was located.

F.R. GABLE

F.R. Gable, Jewell business man died at 12:30 Thursday, January 11, at the Ritz hotel in Jewell where he roomed. His death followed a sickness of about one week of the flu, a heart ailment developing that caused his death.

The funeral service was held at the Terhune funeral home in Jewell at 1:30 Friday afternoon, Rev. E.W. Nye, pastor of the Federated church of Jewell, officiating. Mrs. J.B. Harris was organist. The body was taken to his old home at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where services were held Saturday afternoon at the Turner mortuary. Rev. Paul Luther Miller, pastor of the First Lutheran church of Cedar Rapids, officiated at this service. Burial was in the Gable family lot in Oak Hill cemetery at Cedar Rapids.

Franklin Raymond Gable was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Gable. He was born at Lost Nation, Iowa, January 6, 1875, and died at Jewell, Iowa , January 11. 1944, at the age of 69 years and 5 days. He lived 4 years at Lost Nation, 8 years at Atkins, Iowa, then as a boy of 12 years moved with his parents to Cedar Rapids where he lived with the exception of a few brief intervals until he came to Jewell about four years ago and had since operated a candy and ice cream store here.

He married Flora Yates of Palo, Iowa in 1903. Mrs. Gable died 6 years ago at the age of 64 years. There were no children.

Mr. Gable is survived by one brother, O.A. Gable of Tipton, Iowa; 5 nephews: John, Robert and Fredric Gable all of Cedar Rapids, George Gable, in service in Italy, and O.A. Gable, Jr. in service in California; one niece, Mrs. Wm. Horstman of Toronto, Iowa, a grand niece, Onalie Horstman of Toronto, and a grand nephew of Toronto, and a grand nephew, Bobbie Gable, Mr. of Cedar Rapids. His father, John E. Gable, died June 4, 1944, and a brother, E.B. Gable, died March 6, 1943.
