JOHN SEVERSON, DUNCOMBE, DIES

Had Been Resident of Community Southeast of Duncombe for More Than 50 Years.

WAS 73 YEARS OLD

Funeral Will Be Held at Norwegian Lutheran Church.

John Severson, 73, a resident of the community near Duncombe for the last 50 years, died last evening at 6:15 o'clock at his home, three miles southeast of Duncombe. Mr. Severson had been bedfast for the last eight weeks, although he had not been well for the last five or six year.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow at the Norwegian Lutheran Church at Duncombe at 1:30 p.m., preceded by a brief service at the family home at 1 o'clock. The Rev. Peder Storsteen, pastor of the Lutheran Church, will officiate, and burial will be made in the Washington cemetery south of Duncombe.

Mr. Severson was born in Pontiac, Ill., Dec. 19, 1854. Before coming to Iowa to live, he made his home in Dakota for a time. Forty years ago, last July 4 Mr. Severson and Miss Ellen Jacobson were married in this city.

Mrs. Severson and five children survive. The children are: Miss Louise and Martin Severson, who live at home, and Mrs. Oscar Elm, Amos Severson, and Jackie Severson, all of whom live near Webster City. There are also eight grandchildren and three sisters and a brother Andrew Severson, of Sioux City; Mrs. John Lang, of Evanston, Iowa; Mrs. Severt Lande, of Ducombe, and Mrs. Carl Larson, of Renwick.

Mrs. Severson was a member of the Norwegian Lutheran church all his life and held membership in the church at Duncombe.

During his long residence in the community near Duncombe he became widely known and made many friends. He took and active part in the life of the community until his failing health constrained him from so doing.
