Obituary for Oscar Elm, printed Wednesday 15th October 1958

Oscar Elm, 70, died at 5:05 a.m. today at the Hamilton county hospital where he had been a patient since last Saturday. He had been in ill health since June 9.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Washington Lutheran church in Duncombe, preceded by a brief service at 1:30 at the family home, 855 Elm St. The body will lie in state at the Foster funeral home until 4:00 p.m. Friday when it will be taken to the family home.

The Rev. Palmer Loken of Duncombe will officiate with burial in Washington Lutheran cemetery at Duncombe.

Oscar Elm, son of John and Dena Elm, was born Feb. 3, 1888 at Sioux Falls, S. D. He was reared and educated at Sioux Falls, coming to Iowa in 1911 and locating in Duncombe.

He was united in marriage March 1, 1916, to Mamie Severson, and Mr. and Mrs. Elm farmed south of Duncombe for seven years, then moved to a farm northwest of Webster City. They farmed northwest of this city until 1953, when they moved into Webster City, their family home since. He had been employed at the Naden Industries since moving to this city.

Surviving are his wife and three sons: John Elm, Duncombe; Luverne Elm and Estel Elm, both of Webster City; eight grandchildren; three brothers and one sister, Victor Elm of Dayton, Matt Elm of Webster City, Elmer Elm, Fort Dodge, and Mrs. Mabel Metcalf, of Salem, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.

Mr. Elm was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Washington Lutheran church at Duncombe.
