James Jones Died Sunday

James S. Jones, 78, a long-time resident of the Webster City community, died Sunday evening at the Hamilton County hospital. He had been in ill health for several years.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. George Eddy officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.

James Sheridan Jones, son of Asa and Mary Jones, was born Oct. 11, 1887, on a farm near Duncombe. He was reared and educated in the Duncombe community.

He was united in marriage Oct. 9, 1911, to Nellie May Sprigstroh, and the couple resided in Webster City where Mr. Jones engaged in the carpentry trade. In 1934, the couple moved to a farm northwest of Webster City where they resided until 1965, moving then into Webster City to their home at 1133 Bell Avenue.

He is survived by his wife, one son and three daughters: Lyle Z. Jones, Mrs. Zelpha I. Fuller, Mrs. Wahneeta W. Davis and Mrs. Garvin (Bonnie) Lyons all of Webster City; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and one sister Mrs. Jep Smith, Webster City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters, one grandson and one granddaughter.

Mr. Jones was a member of the First Baptist church.
