Howard Hurd, son of Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Hurd, pioneer residents of this place, [Williams] was united in marriage to Miss Nellie M. Manning, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Manning of McLeansboro, Ill., on Monday, Aug 30th. Rev. Chipperfield of the Methodist church of Webster City officiated and Mr. and Mrs. Stanton F. Hurd acted as best man and matron of honor. The bride is a young woman of exemplary character and has acted as companion to the the groom's mother for the past two years. The groom is a young man of sterling character. He served as a volunteer with the A.E.F. and since his return from the war has farmed his father's place east of town. After an informal wedding supper at the home of the groom's parents - the home was decorated with sweet peas, asparagus, etc. - the young couple left for an auto trip in Minnesota. They will make their home with the groom's parents after their return and the young husband will continue to farm his father's place and other rente3d land adjoining it. The best wishes of the entire community go out to this young couple for a long and happy married life.

Dated Aug 30, 1920.
