A lingering illness claimed the life of Mrs. Mildred Stanley of Jamaica Saturday in the Des Moines General Hospital. Prior to her death she hospital.
Daughter of Charley and Leila Leigan, Mrs. Stanley who was 53 years old, was born in Des Moines. At the time of her death, Mrs. Stanley was director of social services for Green had spent several weeks off and on in the County. Prior to that, she had served as postmaster in Herndon for 13 years.
She was married to Vincent Stanley and they were parents of Bill Stanley of Bayard and Jody (Mrs. Jim) Bayers of Redding, Calif.
Her husband preceded her in death as did her father, a half brother and two grandchildren.
Final rites for Mrs. Stanley were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Fouch Funeral Home in Yale. Officiating at the services was Rev Paul Donelson, pastor of the Bagley United Methodist Church. Music for the service was furnished by Edna Kinney, pianist. The casket was carried by Eldon Prince, Mike Ostlund, Calvin Meinecke, Gary Elliott, Ed Kenney and Woodrow Tighe. Interment was made in the Richland Cemetery.
Survivors include her two children, four grandchildren (Troy and Michelle Stanley and Amy and Erin Bayers) and her mother, Mrs. Leila Leigan of Des Moines.
